Valkyrie Retreat to the Dominican Tree House
2026 retreat • Dominican Republic
April 12th - April 18th, 2026
Healing breathwork & Yoga
Daily breathwork and yoga classes will be offered from some of the most experienced and renowned facilitators and teachers in the industry. Your class time will be held in the Treehouse Village’s private Yoga Dome to support you as you connect with yourself as well as the jungle on this expansive and healing journey. There will be a variety of optional circles, cacao ceremonies, and healing offerings in addition to your daily yoga and breathwork.
Adventures & Excursions
Your adventures could include a 12 line zip lining course through the jungle, or snorkeling in the sea. Bathing under waterfalls, horseback riding on the beach, or simply enjoying some of the world’s most pristine beaches, and even swimming in crystalline, translucent lagoons.
An Opportunity For Karma Yoga
As you enjoy your personal renewal while on retreat there will be an opportunity to give back to the local orphanage. This service can take many forms from kicking a ball around, bringing supplies, reading a book to a child, or simply being present in the orphanage and letting your own inner light shine through.
About the retreat
Join your retreat leaders Kat, Agnete & Rus at the Dominican Tree House Village for a breathwork and yoga retreat that aims to emphasize your connection with the jungle and the essence of the earth on the island. You will stay in your very own tree house, practice yoga, and breathe in a virgin jungle on the Samana peninsula of the Dominican Republic.
With on site bicycles the beach is just minutes away and you can bathe in the warm waters of the Caribbean sea every day of your stay. This magical treehouse village is where the untouched jungle meets the ocean in a rare combination of natural beauty unpolluted by artificial light and noise.
You will have the opportunity to dance around the fire, enjoy cacao ceremonies (from cacao grown before your eyes in the village), breathe, open your body with the physical practice of yoga, as well as give back to the community by spending time in the nearby orphanage.
As Valkyrie journeys to Quisqueya (the name given to the island of Hispaniola by the Taino) the hope and the dream is that this island becomes a cradle of renewal, rejuvenation, and regeneration.

Karmic Yoga: Local Orphanage
As we receive the bounty and the beauty of the natural landscape of this country, there are little ones in need. One aspect of yoga is service, and participating in helping with the orphanage is one way that you can give back to the local community. How you choose to help with the orphanage will depend on your individual comfort level.
You can come into the orphanage and spend time directly with the children, help out around the grounds, or bring much needed supplies. Sit and chat, read a book, or play ball, or simply come and let your own light shine, it does really matter what you do as your love will be felt. We live in a world that is a single operative organism and as we receive so do we give. Let the flow of life come into you and back out to the little ones in need.
You will feel invited into the vibrancy of the jungle in the tree house village as you move your body to the flow of the trees both above and below. Breathe with the natural rhythm of the ocean, and ground back into your essence with every step you take.

Kat
Kat’s deep love for the Dominican Republic is rivaled by her love for yogic living. It is her lifelong dream to host a group of beautiful souls on the island that she loves so much. Kat’s life was forever altered in 2003 when she took her first yoga class on Salt Spring Island. Since then she has searched through trainings, teachers, traditions (ancient and new) for just the right combination of tools to open self fully up to Source. Kat raised her baby in the Dominican Republic in the warm waters, practising and teaching yoga until the boy grew up enough to go to America. In 2016 Kat met Agnete within the first month of her return to US soil, studied under her tutelage to gain her Vinyasa teacher training, and it was at this time that Agnete introduced her to the power of Transformational Breathwork. This retreat is the culmination of an entire lifetime of study, work, and preparation, and I am so excited to host you in the Dominican Tree House Village in the land that I love so much.
Trainings/Credentials: Reiki Master (2000-2002), Shambhala Meditation Training (2002-2003), Hatha Yoga (300 hour teacher training Salt Spring Center of Yoga 2004), Tantric Initiate (2005), Vinyasa (200 hour teacher training 2017), Yin Yoga (2018), Wall Yoga (2019), Cosmetic Acupuncture and Cupping (2018-2019). Infrared light and sauna expert (2009-Present).
Rus
There are many paths to the top of the mountain. There is also the path of no-path... the subtle awareness of being present with all that is. Growing up in the canyon of Palomar the metaphor of the mountain revealed itself to Rus as stillness, observation, and meditation arose naturally during childhood. A deep knowing that all things share the same breath. Rus received his 200 YTT certificate in 2016. Utilizing a unique syncretism of Zen, Bhakti and Sufi, he hopes to inspire self-actualization, self-realization, and self-care.
Agnete
Agnete was born in the heart of a dark and cold winter in Norway. Growing up in an isolated environment led to a lifelong passion and pursuit of creating community and connection. Agnete spent over a decade exploring the disciplines of yoga, meditation, and breathwork. She led numerous yoga teacher trainings and continued to learn about various healing modalities such as somatic therapy, reiki, kambo, and trauma informed yoga. She became certified in all of these modalities throughout her studies and exploration.
Agnete believes that we all hold the key to our own healing and she is here to share pathways to remember. Her passion is in community, connection, and empowerment. She is here to hold a space for us to remember our true power, potential and magic.
